Open/Controlled Burning
Open burning is allowed in unincorporated Campbell County; however persons burning must follow all requirements set forth by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality. In some cases, a permit from Wyoming DEQ will be required.
The Campbell County Fire Department asks that all persons conducting open burning ensure weather conditions are favorable to burn. Please do not burn on days with any one or all of the following conditions: High winds, low humidity, high temperatures.
Steps for Open Burning
- Contact the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality – Sheridan Office 307-673-9337
- After proper approvals/permits have been obtained, contact the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office – Communication Center to advise them of the burn. Call prior to burning. 307-682-7271
In the event your open burn becomes uncontrolled, call 911 immediately
