Division Chief – Dale Izatt
Division Chief, Dale Izatt, started with The Campbell County Fire Department in 1998 as a seasonal firefighter. During that time Dale was also a school teacher. In June of 2003 he passed the test to become a full-time firefighter. Dale served as a Captain for about five years and then was promoted to his current role as Division Chief.
Dale began his career in education, going to school to be a teacher. His experience there helped to give him the public speaking and interpersonal relationship skills that he feels helped him cross over into a career in firefighting. The Campbell County Fire Department has a great training program which helped him build on those skills.
Dale says that as Campbell County has grown they have seen an increase in number of calls from around 1,000 per year to over 2,000 per year. This has led to an ever increasing need for emergency services and first responders. “At The CCFD there is an opportunity to cover every aspect of an emergency, unlike in a city where you are assigned to one area, here we cover everything.”
When asked what advice he would give someone interested in a firefighting career he said, “I would look into it first and make sure this is something you are interested in. Go to college to get a degree in it and then always be ready to keep training yourself and continuing your education.”
Dale has been married for 34 years, has 4 children, and 8 grandchildren. When Dale isn’t working he enjoys spending time with his grandkids, being outside, hunting, fishing and camping.
