Recruitment for part-time firefighters runs from July-September.

Part-time Firefighters are often needed at CCFD’s 10 fire stations which are located throughout Campbell County’s 5,000-square-mile service area (including stations in Gillette, Rozet, and Wright). Chances are good that you live close to one of our fire stations. You are not required to possess any firefighting or emergency response experience or certifications in order to apply for part-time membership.

All applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  1. Must be a citizen of the United States of America

  2. Must be able to read, speak, and write in English

  3. Must be 18 years old or older

  4. Must possess a high school diploma or GED certificate or higher

  5. Must hold a valid Wyoming Driver's License (or have the ability to obtain one prior to acceptance)

  6. Must have dependable transportation

  7. Must pass all background checks with no disqualifying offenses

  8. Applicant's driving record must be free of disqualifying offenses

The Part-time Firefighter Recruitment/Application Process is fairly involved, and it encompasses a period of several months. It consists of the following:

  • Complete and submit an application packet

  • Submit to Criminal and Driving Background Checks

  • Attend an Orientation Session

  • Take Pre-employment Classroom Exam and Physical Agility Test

  • Undergo an Oral Interview

  • Undergo Drug Screening

  • Undergo Medical Physical Exam

The fire department conducts annual recruiting campaigns for additional part-time firefighters. The process starts with an open application period extending from July through September. New part-time firefighters attend CCFD’s weekly Recruit Academy classes that run from late-January through May of each year.
