Fire Inspector


The Campbell County Fire Department (CCFD) currently is accepting applications and resumes for the position of Fire Inspector. This position is primarily responsible to the Fire Prevention Division but does have some Operational requirements. 

The CCFD is an all-hazards organization that is responsible for 4,807 square miles and approximately 50,000 citizens. We respond to all fires, hazardous materials, technical rescue, and life threatening emergency medical incidents. In 2024 the CCFD responded to 3,200 incident requests for service. 


Pay and Benefits

  • Annual Salary Range: $64,793.56 —$94,835.52

  • Anticipated Hiring Range: $64,793.56 - $79,814.54

  • Certification Pay: Up to $2,400.00 annually

  • Annual Paid Vacation Time:  96 hours accrued

  • Annual Paid Sick Time: 96 hours accrued

    • 2.8% per year of service up to 25 years

Minimum Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED

  • Must be a United States Citizen

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English

  • Possess a valid driver’s license

  • Must reside in Campbell County within 6 months of completing probationary period.

Required Certification

**Required Certifications or Ability to Obtain Within One Year of Hire**

  • Valid State of Wyoming Driver’s License: Class C 

  • Pro Board (2019 or newer) or State of Wyoming Firefighter I

  • International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI) Fire Investigator Technician 

  • International Code Council (ICC) – Fire Inspector I

  • Current National Registry or State of Wyoming Emergency Medical Technician—Basic

  • NWCG – FFT2

Preferred Certifications and Education**

  • Associate degree from regionally accredited university or community college

The State of Wyoming Fire Marshals Office will not grant reciprocity for any IFSAC or Pro-Board certifications that are older than 5 years.


Applicant Testing Process

  • Submit to CCFD, cover letter, application, resume, and applicable certifications by July 18, 2025 at 1700 hours MST.

  • Application review by CCFD personnel

  • Invitations to participate in testing process (Not all applicants may be invited to test)

  • All candidates will be required to complete FireTEAM and PSSA exam administered by the National Testing Network by July 18, 2025

  • Physical Agility Test (PAT) and Interviews will be scheduled at a later date for candidates invited to progress through the hiring process.

  • External candidates will be required to take CCFD physical agility test (modified combat challenge). Must pass within (7:30) 7 minutes, 30 seconds

  • Oral Interview Panel for successful candidates will take place on a date TBD.

  • Chief of Department interview (TBD)

  • Conditional employment offer pending pre-employment conditions (External Candidates)

    • Medical physical examination

    • Pre-employment drug screening

    • Psychological examination

    • Criminal/Driving background check

    • Interview of references from application

    • Verification of employment and work experience of external candidates
