Battalion Chief – Kate Eischeid

Battalion Chief, Kate Eischeid, began her journey into firefighting for The Campbell County Fire Department in 2000, as a seasonal firefighter, and in 2009 became a full-time firefighter.  Kate knew that firefighting was the next step for her when she found herself thinking about it a lot while in her former career.  “I knew I was supposed to do this as my life’s work, not just as a volunteer intermittently anymore.”

While working towards her Bachelors of Science degree Kate saw how self-discipline, self-drive and hard work have advantageous and rewarding outcomes.   She has applied these three disciplines within her professional career, which has also proven to have rewarding outcomes.  Kate says that, “While a firefighting career is challenging on many levels; training, education and being a crew member at different levels that hold different expectations. These challenges over the years have forced me to grow as a firefighter and as a leader.”

When asked what advice he would give to someone interested in a firefighting career she shared that, “Again, this is a very challenging and therefore a very rewarding career.  Becoming a seasonal or part-time firefighter will feed that interest and at the same time, provide experience that will assist in deciding if this is a job you can call your life’s work for decades to come.”

In addition to being a career firefighter, Kate is a wife and mother to a very active and fun-loving family.
